This week’s motivational Monday comes from beloved English teacher Mrs. Kristin Pierce. Here is a favorite quote:
The art of being happy lies in the power of extracting happiness from common things.

Camille Williams teaches a variety of FACS classes, including Interior Design, Child Development, and Early Childhood Education. The profound life skills learned in these classes are why Ms. Williams teaches. She finds joy in helping students acquire these skills and in seeing them grow their potential by mastering those skills. When Ms. Williams is not teaching, she can be found creating the most intricate, gorgeous quilts! You can also find her spending time with her nieces and nephews and exploring canyons, because they’re her favorite place to be, along with the beach. She says if we could just move Utah to the West Coast in place of California, there’d be no question about living at the beach! Another fun thing about Ms. Williams is her love for pineapples– though maybe I’m biased because that’s something we have in common :)
We love Ms. Williams, and so do our students– both current and graduated students frequently share their great experiences about having her as a teacher. Ms. Williams, thank you! We are grateful for the reasons you teach, and for the reasons you choose to teach at Provo High.
Parents & Students,
Thank you for your cooperation in the student drop off process.
Students, thank you for using caution as you arrive to school in the morning. We ask that you please continue to enter the parking lot from the south entrance in order to reduce traffic flow in areas closest to the building. For everyone’s safety, please also continue to use the assigned crosswalk to get across morning drop off traffic.
Parents, please remember to pull as far forward as you can when dropping students off. Please be cautious of the students ahead who may be in the crosswalk, or trying to enter the crosswalk.
Also, everyone, please keep in mind that starting tomorrow, until phase 2 begins, there will no longer be a crossing guard. As such, we ask that drivers and pedestrians continue to use an abundance of caution.
Let’s continue to be safe and make it a great month until the end of term! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us.

Over the summer, we collected favorite quotes from teachers and staff around the school. The quotes will be included in our student planner and will also be shared here weekly as part of Motivational Monday. I mean… we could all use a little motivation on Mondays, am I right? Especially Mondays in 2020!
The first quote comes from school counselor Mrs. Deana Edmondson:
Enjoy the little things. For one day you may look back and realize they were the big things. – Robert Brault
Our first Why I Teach Wednesday comes from science teacher Caralee Young, who is new to Provo High this year. Here is a little bit about Caralee, along with why she chooses to teach!
This is my ninth year of teaching. I’ve taught many different courses including chemistry, yearbook, art, medical terminology and intro to health sciences and several other science courses. I loved my old school, but I joined the Provo High team because the science department rocks and the administration is really supportive. In college I planned on going into optometry (eye doctor) and was all set with all my prerequisites, visited my top choice campus, shadowed three optometrists, but then I realized that although I would make more money, being an optometrist can be boring. I chose to become a teacher instead and have never had a boring day on the job since. I love teaching students and helping them realize what they are capable of learning and doing.
We are grateful Caralee is with us at Provo High!
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition for recognition and scholarships, and this year, we offer our congratulations to scholars Davu Chau, Cougar Gao, and Landon Grover! If you see these three, we hope you’ll congratulate them as well.
