Our first Why I Teach Wednesday comes from science teacher Caralee Young, who is new to Provo High this year. Here is a little bit about Caralee, along with why she chooses to teach!
This is my ninth year of teaching. I’ve taught many different courses including chemistry, yearbook, art, medical terminology and intro to health sciences and several other science courses. I loved my old school, but I joined the Provo High team because the science department rocks and the administration is really supportive. In college I planned on going into optometry (eye doctor) and was all set with all my prerequisites, visited my top choice campus, shadowed three optometrists, but then I realized that although I would make more money, being an optometrist can be boring. I chose to become a teacher instead and have never had a boring day on the job since. I love teaching students and helping them realize what they are capable of learning and doing.
We are grateful Caralee is with us at Provo High!
