Assessment of Progress
Textbook:
Students will be given a textbook, but they will keep it at home as a supplemental text. We will be using websites, labs and on line assignments for most of the work in class.
In-class Assignments:
There will be large amounts of hands-on activities, group work, and labs during class. If your student is absent it will be extremely difficult or impossible to make up this kind of class work. While some assignments or notes do not count toward their grade, it will help them with their testing.
Exams:
Students are being prepared to take the AP Exam in May AND/OR CE final at the end of the year. Throughout the year, their “masteries” will test them on each section we learn in class. The “masteries” will also be written in the same way as the AP exam. This will help them get used to the phrasing of questions and appropriate responses. These “masteries” will consist of multiple choice and free response (short answer and essay) questions. We will have “term exams” that will review everything covered in the term. Please be prepared to pay for the AP Exam at the end of the year. The cost for the AP Exam is around $95.

Classroom Procedures
Your grade for this class will become part of your permanent college transcript and will affect your GPA. A low grade in this course can affect college acceptance and scholarship eligibility.
If you are taking the AP exam, different colleges accept different scores (usually between 3-5).
As a future college student, you will need to attend class on time and be prepared for each day’s lesson by reviewing and studying the things in previous classes.
Electronic devices outside of your chrome book will not be allowed. You will need to stay focused and do the work required in class. Remember “homework” is to be done at HOME, not during class as the teacher is teaching the next section of learning.
You will be expected to keep a lab notebook. It will contain lab writings, data, notes, etc. It will be handed in periodically and graded.
Cheating and/or plagiarism will not be tolerated. If you are caught cheating, you will redo the assignment or test in the presence of Ms. Williams. It will be receive a “0” grade until redone. If there is a second incident of cheating, the assignment or test will not be able to be retaken and will remain a “0”. Parent/administration will be called in and possible removal from class will be addressed.
Calendar of Due Dates for Major Assignments
Most assignments will be posted on Canvas. The assignments will also be logged in on Powerschool with the due dates. You will be allowed to make up or retake work through the current term. Once the term has ended you cannot turn in work to raise your grade from a past term.
Progress Reports and Report Cards
You can look at your grades at any time in Powerschool. I try and update grades with in the week the assignment is due.
There are retakes/makeups/rewrite depending on what kind of test was given. These are due within a week of the original test date.
I will remind students after each unit mastery how they are doing grade wise in the class. I put comments on each student in Powerschool.
