During his AP 2D Art class on Tuesday, senior Ivan Ramirez was surprised to learn that he is a recipient of the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design Annual Art Award.
Each year, a select number of secondary schools with noteworthy programs in the visual arts are invited by RISD’s president to nominate an accomplished artist from the senior class to receive this distinction. RISD considers several criteria in making their nominations including the student’s effort and achievement in the visual arts and the student’s creativity and talent.
The RISD Annual Art Award is an opportunity to celebrate a noteworthy art student who displays creative potential and to draw attention to the excellent art program that has helped this student develop his talent.
Congratulations Ivan, and thanks Mr. Rees for providing such an outstanding art program for our students at PHS.
