School & Community Overview

As the flagship high school in the Provo City School District, Provo High offers a wide range of academic, vocational, technical, family science, and fine arts courses. Provo High has a long-standing tradition of diversity and excellence. Provo High School is located in Provo, Utah, which lies in a mountainous valley in central Utah. Provo is the state’s third largest city of approximately 120,000 residents. With a student enrollment of roughly 2,000, PHS is part of the Provo City School District and is one of three high schools in the district. PHS shares reciprocal partnerships with Utah Valley University and Brigham Young University, which benefits all three institutions’ academic programs. College concurrent enrollment credit is offered from UVU for numerous courses taught at PHS. A UVU Distance Learning Lab is located on campus, in which many students take university courses right here on Provo High’s campus. Provo High School is reflective of the diverse community with a student body made up of approximately 48% minority enrollment. PHS has an A/B schedule with four 87-minute periods rotating every other day for a total of eight periods.

Our core values of Excellence, Inclusion, and Integrity will frame the decisions that we make to teach, guide, direct,                and prepare our students to be college and career-ready upon graduation.

Vision The students of Provo High are dedicated to learning and self-discovery. A Provo High graduate will be an effective communicator, a responsible citizen, a resourceful and critical thinker, and a lifelong learner.

School Goals

Increase student proficiency in Aspire + on the ELA, Math and Science tests by 5% from FY 2024 to FY 2025.

  • Increase WIDA Access percentage of students who met proficiency by 5% from FY 2024 to FY 2025.
  • Increase WIDA Access percentage of students who made growth goals by 5% from FY 2024 to FY 2025.
    • Decrease the percentage of chronic absent students by 10%.

Achieved By:

  • 80% of students meet proficiency on common formative assessments.
  • 80% of students actively engaged in class.
