Provo High’s FCCLA Chapter organized and hosted a night of “soup and service” on Monday, November 5, 2012. We had 16 teams compete in a soup competition. Teams included the following: the Math Department, the Breakfast Club, Art Club, PHS Secretaries & BYU, DECA, HOSA, FFA, FCCLA, the Breakdance Club, Administration, Cheerleaders, Counseling, Latinos in Action, Choir, Student Government, and NHS. Each group donated the ingredients for their soup, and all proceeds went to raise funds for “No Kid Hungry,” an organization which helps fight childhood hunger. The winning soup belonged to the Latinos in Action. Their Posole was delicious and very popular. We kicked off the PHS annual Canned Food Drive, tied 25 lap blankets for the Elderly Care Center, and collected donations to “Pie-a-Teacher” at the upcoming assembly. Ceramics students shared their hand-crafted bowls to help raise money for the Canned Food Drive.
We had a great turnout for the evening and raised over $800 to help fight hunger! Thanks to all who participated and helped us with such a worthy cause!
