Meet math teacher Nick Palmer. Nick is new to Provo High this year, and Utah as well. He left his home state of New York to come live near the mountains, which is where you can find him outside of the classroom. Nick loves mountain biking and road biking, as well as playing the piano and guitar. He also skateboards, and despite being right-handed, he is goofy foot on a board. Nick is incredibly devoted to teaching, but he still has plenty of time for all these hobbies because he does not own a television. (Kudos, Nick!) But he does have a favorite movie: Goodwill Hunting. As for food, he loves sushi.
Nick’s favorite book is Mindset by Carol Dweck, and this is reflected in the growth mindset he nurtures in his classroom. Nick strives to empower his students with the motivation to improve and the drive to be successful, knowing this will help them well beyond high school. It was Nick’s own high school teachers who helped him much the same way and who are the reason he went into teaching. We are very grateful to have Nick sharing this passion for learning with the students of Provo High!
