Provo High girls are looking forward to their upcoming “Triumphant in Life: We are Women” assembly on Friday, April 18, during 5th period. Special guest speakers for the event are the following incredible ladies:
Mary is a walking font of knowledge and expertise when it comes to cooking and catering, and she’s happy to share what she’s learned. She’s also a powerhouse of enthusiasm for groups and efforts that benefit the community at large. That’s why she’s an active member of several non-profit, educational, and business organizations, a keynote speaker, and a tireless advocate for local artisan food producers. Her work and contributions have been noticed by many respected organizations, as is evident by the awards she’s received over the years.
Estela was born in a small village in Northern Guatemala, Central America. She and her husband, Israel, left Guatemala over 34 years ago. They lived in Costa Rica and Mexico for a few years and then twenty-nine years ago decided to move to the United States. She and her husband have seven children (five daughters and two sons) born in four different countries. They have ten adorable grandchildren and are expecting many more to come. Estela enjoys reading, writing in her journal, serving others, and walking. Estela worked for Provo School District as a school Social Worker for three years. The experience she gained working with the students and families in Provo has been a blessing in her life. Estela currently works as a Multicultural Student Advisor at BYU.
Jessie has been speaking for eleven years. As a singer, she toured 37 states with the Broadway show, “Footloose,” has performed with Donny Osmond, Josh Gracin & Kenny Loggins, and her voice has been heard on TV’s “The Biggest Loser” & “America’s Got Talent.” Currently she also runs a non-profit organization for girls to teach them leadership, confidence, and life skills called “Ivy Academy.” Jessie is also a Provo Bulldog from her high school years!
