The Marching Band competed this past weekend at 2 competitions, making it a great weekend for Provo HIgh.
At the UMEA State Marching Band competition, Provo High finished in 4th place overall and took 1st place in Percussion.
At the Marching Band Open Series Competition in Las Vegas, the band received the following:
- 1st place in Marble Class
- Outstanding Band in the areas of Music, Visual, General Effect and Percussion (receiving Provo’s first Superior rating in Marching Band in 5 years)
In Las Vegas, the band also made it to finals which is a separate competition where only the top 12 bands complete, and they placed 10th out of the 12 bands competing, moving up 2 spots from the preliminaries. This was also a first for Provo Marching Band in that they have never made finals at any competition. This group of young men and young women played their hearts out and represented Provo and Utah amazingly well!
Congratulations Marching Band, and thanks to Mr. Nix for his hard work throughout the summer, as well as the school year, in building a band to be proud of!
