On February 14, 2014, 42 members of the PHS FCCLA competed at the area FCCLA competition held at BYU. All of these students qualified to compete at the State FCCLA competition.
The Culinary Arts team (Utahna Warren, Sunni Holmberg, and Alaric Stubbs) took 1st place overall. They were one of three teams that qualified to move on to State from our area.
Kaylee Webb, Chris Sosa, and Amanda Yapias took the gold medal for their project, “Chapter Review Portfolio.” They showcased the Provo High FCCLA chapter and all the great things we have done here at PHS. Included were pictures and short write-ups from our service nights, lunch activities and other meetings.
Kandace Steel took home a gold medal for the Illustrated Talk category where she spoke about topics related to Family and Consumer Sciences.
Roberto Elguera also won a gold medal for his presentation on Sports Nutrition and how it has impacted him. He presented a short talk and also made a display board to demonstrate what he has learned about the importance of proper nutrition in the athletic world.
We had many other students who performed well and we are excited to see how they do at State on March 26!
