CCA Technology and Engineering
Course Description/Overview/Welcome Statement
Technology and Engineering Education is committed to preparing students for employment and/or continuing education opportunities by teaching them to understand, design, produce, use, and manage the human-made world in order to contribute and function in a technological society.
Learning Expectations
Essential Elements of Instruction
– Students will be learning about the following areas of Industrial Technology:
Communication, Construction, Manufacturing, Power and Energy, Transportation, Agriculture, Health Science, Information Technology
Career Guidance.
Assessments
– Students will earn a grade for each of the following class projects:
Log Book, CTE ID Card, Measuring, Helicopters, Artificial Limbs, Manufacturing, Robotics, Electronics, Structure Design. Plants Engineering Design Process
– We will be doing Problem and Project base learning
-Students will work in groups on some class projects. Other class projects students will be worked on independently.
-Usually a new class project is started each week. Most of the projects will take 2 to 4 days to complete
-Points will be deducted from late work.
– Students will need to accumulate 100 points from the technology activities. They consist of computers activities, technology projects and Lego activities.
Students will work independently on student activities.
-On Power Grade I will start the technology activity points at a low score. (5 to 10 points) Each week I will add points to the technology activity until it reaches 100 Points.
-Students who cheat on an assignment will receive a 0 for the assignment.

Course Materials
Materials Needed
-Pencil or pen,
-Cottage cheese type of container for grow plants
Classroom Procedures
-Students will be good citizens. They will be punctual and respect other people and their property. Each student will be given a citizenship grade for his or her behavior and participation in class.
-Students will come to class, on time, prepared, with a pencil, completed assignments.
– Class starts and ends each day by having students work in their logbooks. Each day when students come to class they need to write down the days topic, then take notes on the topic. At the end of each class students need to write down what they accomplished during class.
-There will be a weekly research question for students to look up and answer. Students can do this at home or at school.
-Students will demonstrate safe behavior in and around the shop at all times. Students that show disrespect and break the safety rules will be removed from the class and placed in a time-out area. Students that are placed in the time out area will be required to earn their way back into class.
-We want 0 accidents in the shop

Grading
I expect quality work from my students. Each class project will be given points based on the difficulty of the project.
Grades will be issued according to the percentage of accrued points:

If a student earns below 60 % they will be given an (I) grade, which will need to be made up.

Remediation/ Intervention Plan
– Students that need extra help may come in after school each day. I will be staying after school for at least a half hour or more each day.
-Students need to stay busy working while they are in class. They should always have an assignment to work on.
-Playing games on I-pads during class time will cause students to get behind.
