Eric has been a percussionist since 1994 and an instructor/director since 2000. As a student, he studied under a number of amazing musicians, including Dr. John Falskow, Dr. Chris Lee, Dr. Robert Gardiner, Dr. Paul Criswell, Ed Nagel, Matthew Jones, Susan Alexander and Jay Bocook. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Lander University in South Carolina. He is currently working on his Masters of Music Technology at Southern Utah University.
As an instructor, Eric has led ensembles in performance for the South Carolina Band Director’s Association, Utah Music Educators Association, Carolina Indoor Performance Association, Carolina Winter Ensemble Association and Intermountain Percussion Association. His groups have consistently made it into the top three of their divisions, including winning an A Class Regional Championship at Bands of America, finishing top 3 in A Class at a WGI Regional and finishing top 10 at WGI Championships. Eric’s groups have won a state championship 3 out of the last 4 years at the UMEA Marching Band, IMPA A Class and Independent A Class. His groups/students have consistently appeared at State Festivals within the UMEA Band Division.
Eric is a member of the Vic Firth Education Team, Dynasty Drums, Evans Drum Heads, UMEA Adjudicator and the UMEA All-State Chariman and proudly represents Provo High School as the band director.
