We would like to congratulate our Employees of the Month for February 2018!!
Don Johnson: (Health Teacher)
Don Johnson grew up here in Provo, Utah. His dad was hired by the Highway Patrol and started in Utah County, so his parents bought a home down by Geneva Road and Center Street. He attended Provo High as a student, then worked at Centennial Middle School as the PE teacher for 13 years. He has now been at PHS as a full time health teacher for a year and a half, but has coached and taught driver’s education at PHS for 18 years. He is a Bulldog through and through. Don enjoys the faculty and friendships he has made here at PHS and helping students make positive changes in their lives when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. When Don isn’t at work he enjoys doing yard work, riding ATVs, camping, riding his mountain bike, and quick weekend trips.
Here are a few things colleagues had to say about Don:
Don is a caring professional who puts the interests of the kids first. He is able to get the most out of his students and players.
It is great to work with Don and see by his actions that he cares about what he is doing to help the student’s here at PHS.
Don is as dedicated to teaching and coaching as they come. It is not uncommon to find him here late at night or on the weekends putting together lesson plans. He truly cares about his students and players and wants them to succeed. He is also as genuine and nice as they come and does anything he can to help and serve those around him.
Joan Christiansen: (Nurse)
Joan Christiansen was born in Pocatello, Idaho then moved to Carmel (Indianapolis), Indiana for her high school years. Her parents originated from Provo so it was easy to come back here to attend BYU. In 2010 she brought her children to Provo from Wyoming to go to school. Joan worked four years for Dan Peterson School in Alpine District then started work here at PHS in July 2017. Joan appreciates being accepted so readily onto the PHS team and loves the environment, warmth, and camaraderie here at PHS. When Joan isn’t at work she enjoys being a homemaker and mom which translates into lots of interests and activities. Some of her hobbies include biking and traveling.
Here are a few things colleagues had to say about Joan:
Joan in an incredible addition to the Provo High family! She advocates for kids and families, and she isn’t afraid to learn new things.
Joan constantly shows care and concern for our students and staff. She’s willing to pitch in whenever needed and share her expertise.
Joan is so willing to advocate and volunteer to help students in anyway she can. She tries to reach students until she has actually met or made contact them. She is compassionate and very understanding with both students and colleagues. It is a pleasure to work with such an amazing lady!
Thank you Don and Joan for your contribution to PHS! We are lucky to have you here!!
