Community Council Note September 26th, 2024

Welcome and Introductions:

School Community Council Responsibilities

  • Community Council Members
  • (must have direct email or phone number or both on the site) KC will send a monthly reminder email to all members
  • Vice Chair Vote Vice Chair Need to Vote for New Chair Vice Chair not present Will vote on Chair at next meeting
  • Trustland Budget for This Year $344,000 May have additional $
  • Proposed Meeting Schedule for the Year Time of 2:15 of 4th Tues of each month We will provide a Zoom Link
  • Principal Report Attendance Latino population 40% higher level of absences Mr. Moore teaches ELD, 36 students per class (ELD 1 and ELD 2) Do they want to learn English? Yes, not all classes can speak Spanish to accommodate
  • Elevate Grant May help us to find additional needs Parent Focus Group Work on beginning of October
  • School Goals Increase student proficiency in Aspire + on the ELA, Math and Science tests by 5% from FY 2024 to FY 2025. Increase WIDA Access percentage of students who met proficiency by 5% from FY 2024 to FY 2025. Increase WIDA Access percentage of students who made growth goals by 5% from FY 2024 to FY 2025. Decrease the percentage of chronic absent students by 10% Achieved By: 80% of students meet proficiency on common formative assessments. PLCs can track 80% of students actively engaged in class. Metric used for student engagement Instructional coaches Student feedback survey
  • School Soda Shop Purpose and intent Keep $ here at the school Students can work for $10 per hour to pay for extra-curricular fees Living lab – learning environment Open in the morning, after school, and at events DECA students are responsible to recruit students
