Review of ASPIRE and ACT Testing

  • Opt-Out Rate: A lot of students opted out of the ASPIRE and ACT testing.
  • Support for SPED and ML students: These groups have the greatest need for support.
  • Action: Focus on enrolling students in CE (Concurrent Enrollment) or CTE (Career and Technical Education) pathways for graduation readiness.
  • Dixon site is being considered as a potential location for pathways.
  • Goal: Ensure students are ready for a job upon graduation.
  • Teacher Involvement: Teachers continue to emphasize how tests are used to benchmark student progress.
  • Action for Next Year: Post testing goals prominently throughout the school.
  • The state evaluation will assess PHS’s strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Communication with Shoreline Middle School has been initiated to bridge gaps.
  • Two new reading classes have been added for student support.
  • Targeted Support Classes will be created for students who need specific help.
  • Action: Select teachers who can connect with students in specific ways.

Grants and Funding

  • Provo High has applied for a grant to support ML students and students with disabilities.
  • Action: Create a list of available CE classes and use Trust Lands funding to cover course costs.
  • A detailed plan will be finalized this week, and student sign-ups will be tracked.

Increase Communication

  • Goal: Improve communication about college and career pathways.
  • Action: Form a committee to facilitate these efforts.
  • Educate students and parents on available options, including:
    • MTECH: A cost-effective, clear career path.
    • Job Core: A career-focused program.
  • Action: Create a video to showcase career and college pathways.
  • Organize a Freshman Parent Night to educate families on available options.

  • Building Leadership Teams for Next Year: Focus on reviewing data monthly to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Special emphasis on supporting math and reading classes for the upcoming school year.
