Today’s Pioneers Scholarship

UVU Civil  & Mechanical Engineering Scholarship

  • Due: April 1st
  • Award amount: full tuition + stipend for up to four years
  • Who can apply: seniors
  • Requirements to apply:
    • Incoming high school or pre-engineering students
    • Declared major in civil or mechanical engineering
    • Full-time student at UVU
    • Financial need (based on FAFSA)
    • US Citizen or permanent resident
  • We would like to make you aware of an exciting opportunity for your students interested in attending college and pursuing careers in Civil or Mechanical Engineering. Utah Valley University is offering a scholarship specifically designed to support talented and motivated students that have shown excellent academic ability but may have financial needs that may otherwise prevent them from entering these fields. If awarded, the student will receive financial support covering the tuition, fees, and other expenses for up to four years if the student is a declared Civil or Mechanical Engineering major and meets program academic requirements.
  • How to Apply:

Pearson Butler Scholarship

  • Due: April 4th
  • Who can apply: seniors
  • Amount: $1,000
  • To Apply: Submit a less than 800-word essay on the topic “How I Overcame a Trial and How I am Using that Experience to Further Success in My Life”. Winners are selected based on their essay submission alone, so no other materials are needed to apply.
  • Essay Submission: All essays should be emailed to scholarship@pearsonbutler.com with the subject title “Scholarship Essay – Student Name and School” and must also include the student’s name and high school name in the email. All submissions must be submitted in .pdf format.
  • Award Amount: $1,000.00 Cash Reimbursement (requires verification)
  • Required Verification:
    • Proof of higher education enrollment (college, university, trade school, etc.); and proof of payment for housing, books, tuition, etc. This is a reimbursement scholarship and student will not receive the award without a receipt of payment equaling or exceeding $1,000.00.

Brian Watkins Memorial Foundation Scholarship

Jiffy Lube Your Turn Behind the Wheel Scholarship

  • Due:  April 14th
  • Who Can Apply:  Have taken driver ed this school year.
  • Amount:  $1,500 – $6,500
  • The Jiffy Lube “Your Turn Behind the Wheel” Scholarship, For Utah students 15-17 years old enrolled in Driver’s Ed during the 2024-25 school year. Now it’s your turn! Get our attention! Tell us about your goals, drive, ambition … your future! Simply write your 500-word typed essay about what drives you now.
  • Jiffy Lube Your Turn Behind the Wheel Scholarship

Freedom Credit Union Annual Scholarship

  • Due:  April 20, 2025
  • Who Can Apply:  Seniors with a Freedom Credit Union Account, set up by April 1st
  • Amount:  $1,500
  • Application Guidelines & Requirements:
    • Be a member of Freedom Credit Union in good standing OR be a direct descendant (child or grandchild) of a current member in good standing. Step- and adoptive relationships are accepted. Membership date in any case must be no later than April 1, 2025.
    • Graduate from a public or charter high school in the spring of 2025. Copy of official high school transcript required for application.
    • Plan to attend an accredited public or private college, university, trade school or vocational school full-time within 9-months of graduation. (Deferrals available for up to 2-years for military or volunteer service.)
    • Provide a letter of recommendation from a teacher, employer, or leader of an organization with which you have worked. This letter should address your character, work ethic, and likelihood to succeed academically and professionally.
    • Provide a written response to the questions/prompts on the application.

Association for Women in Aviation Maintenance Scholarship (AWAM)

  • Due: April 30th
  • Application Window: March 15th, 2025 – April 30th, 2025
  • Winner Announcement: Early July
  • Award Presentation: Sunday, September 28th, 2025 at the Inaugural AWAM Conference in Dallas, TX
  • This scholarship program aims to support and empower women in aviation maintenance by providing assistance for their education and training, testing, tool and workwear purchases. This year we are awarding over $36,000 in tuition scholarships alone!
  • Application Process:
  • Minimum document requirements are:
    • Resume
    • Essay – 250 words on your interest in aviation
    • Two letters of recommendation
    • School transcripts, copy of A&P certificate, or statement of industry involvement, as appropriate
    • Some scholarships have additional essay requirements.

Youthlinc Young Humanitarian Scholarship

Due:  March 1

Who Can Apply:  Juniors and Seniors

Amount: $1,500 – $7,500

  • To be considered for the Utah Young Humanitarian Award, applicants must submit all components of the application—including the two essay questions, two letters of recommendation, and completed application form—before the deadline. Evaluation will focus on the quality of essays and letters of recommendation, with a primary emphasis on demonstrated, sustained, and focused service efforts benefiting individuals or communities in need. Ideal candidates will exhibit strong leadership skills, a history of consistent service, hands-on involvement, self-motivation, collaboration with others, and a tangible, positive impact within Utah.
  • The Utah Young Humanitarian Award scholarship requires recipients to serve as ambassadors for one year, representing the organization and the values of service it promotes.
  • As part of this ambassadorship, recipients will attend at least three engagements arranged by the Young Humanitarian Award Director, where they will share their experiences, inspire others, and promote Youthlinc’s mission of creating lifetime humanitarians.
  • Engagements include, but are not limited to: Youthlinc Annual Benefit, Utah Global Diplomacy’s Youth Summit, First Lady Abby Cox’s Show Up Initiatives, and My Impact Challenge. In addition, they will act as representatives for Youthlinc and the scholarship program, helping to spread awareness about the impact of sustained, meaningful service and encouraging others to participate in community-focused efforts.

Navy Supply Corps Foundation Scholarships

Shell Oil Company Technical Scholarship – $2,500 – 20 Awards

  • Deadline: March 15, 2025
  • To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
  • A) Plan to enroll full-time in one of the following majors: geology, geophysics, physics, chemical, civil,
  • electrical, geological, geophysical, mechanical or petroleum engineering.
  • B) Be a graduating high school senior with an interest in the energy industry and demonstrated aptitude in
  • mathematics and science.

Energy Pathways Scholarship

  • Due:  March 15
  • Who Can Apply:  Seniors
  • Amount:  $3,000
  • Multiple $3,000 Scholarships Awarded to students pursuing a STEM degree at a Utah-based trade/tech school or college /university.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be either in the 12th grade and enrolled in any public or private high school in Utah, or a first-year student pursuing a STEM undergraduate degree or STEM-related technical certification at a Utah institute of higher learning. Students must certify their intent to pursue a STEM-related degree at a public or private institution of higher learning located in the state of Utah; or a license, certificate, or skill training that supports the energy industry at a school that is part of the Utah System of Higher Education.  Past scholarship winners are ineligible to apply for the program. Those pursuing a second-degree or master’s program are ineligible to apply for the program.  International students must have a valid F-1 visa to apply. Responses must be the applicant’s own writing. Applications using AI generated text will be ineligible for the program.

Horatio Alger Scholarship

  • Due:  March 15  (Application opens December 1)
  • Who Can Apply:  Juniors
  • Amount: $10,000 – $25,000
  • Horatio Alger Association administers over 70 scholarship programs, offering opportunities for students in various stages of their academic careers to achieve their educational goals and realize their potential.
  • Be enrolled full time as a high school junior in the United States Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States immediately after high school graduation (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution) Demonstrate critical financial need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required) Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities.

RMACAC Student Scholarship

  • Due:  March 24
  • Who Can Apply:  Seniors
  • Amount: $1.000
  • Each year, RMACAC is pleased to offer fifteen (15) $1,000 scholarships to students who exhibit a commitment to learning, demonstrate leadership skills, and are committed to serving their communities. RMACAC will select three (3) scholarship recipients per RMACAC state: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
  • Students who live in one of the member states, attend a public or private high school in one of the member states, is in their final year of high school, and will be attending a regionally accredited college or university beginning the Summer 2024 or Fall 2024 term. Students must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA (on a 4.0 scale) International students and students with undocumented/DACA status who attend high school or a 2-year college within the RMACAC region are also eligible to apply.
  • This one-time, non-renewable award is designed for applicants with demonstrated involvement in high school/college, the community, or service to others. Applicants must have a motivation to achieve personal goals.

  • In order for the student to be eligible to apply for the RMACAC Student Scholarship, they must be nominated by a current member of RMACAC. All RMACAC members are eligible to nominate up to 2 students, but applicants must either be a resident of or currently attend a school in one of the five members states: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming to be eligible for the scholarship.

Foundation for Women in Accounting Scholarships – $10,000 – 8 Awards

Animal Welfare Institute Scholarship

  • Deadline: March 16, 2025
  • Amount: $3,000 (12 awards)
  • To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
  • A) Have demonstrated a commitment to animal welfare through volunteer work and/or advocacy
  • B) Plan to pursue a career that will seek to reduce animal suffering and protect vulnerable species.

  • Must be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe or Alaska Native Corporation • College students: Must be a natural resource major (examples: forestry, hydrology, wildlife & fisheries, natural resource management or environmental studies. ) • High school students: Must be enrolled in natural resource courses, • College seniors not eligible unless they are applying to graduate school • All natural resources degrees accepted, but preference will be given to students whose degree or area of study directly involves management of Forest Resources. • Award given in early summer and intended to support student for the following year

Utah Opportunity Scholarship

  • Due:  March 21st Priority deadline is January 27, 2025
  • Who Can Apply:  Seniors
  • Amount: Varies, usually $4,000
  • The Opportunity Scholarship is a simplified, statewide, achievement-based program that encourages students to complete advanced courses in core subject areas while in high school, aims to make higher education more accessible, and rewards students for preparing academically for college. These requirements were created after examining recent Utah high school graduates’ data to identify the top college success predictors.
  • Earn a 3.3 cumulative high school GPA Complete 3 advanced courses (see next question for more details about eligible courses)Complete 1 Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), or Concurrent Enrollment (CE) course in each of the core areas of high school graduation: Math, Science, and Language Arts Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Graduate from a Utah high school Three advanced courses must be completed in grades 9-12 and must be completed before high school graduation. Please note: scholarship course requirements may not align with graduation requirements. Overcoming Disability Scholarship

Hogan Construction Scholarship

  • Due: April 25, 2025
  • Who can apply: Seniors
  • Amount: $1,000
  • To qualify you must be a high school senior seeking a trade or two-year associates degree in a construction field (construction technology, electrical, heating and air conditioning, plumbing, etc.) or a university degree in Construction Management.
  • Once you are awarded the scholarship and enrolled in your school of choice, inform Lantzen Toomer (ltoomer@hoganconstruction.com) and he will pay the $1,000 into your school account.

Beyond the Cure Ambassador Scholarship – $3,500 – 58 Awards

  • Deadline: March 31, 2025
  • To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
  • A) Be a childhood cancer survivor under the age of 25 and diagnosed before the age of 18.
  • B) Be accepted into a post-secondary school for the fall semester of the upcoming academic year.
