David Ellison grew up in Florida and Utah. He doesn’t miss the humidity and blistering heat of Florida summers (though the lightning was nice, he says), so he plans to stick around the dry weather and gorgeous mountains. While in college, David aspired to work with an established ballroom team at a local high school and was thrilled when Provo High was hiring three years ago. David has loved teaching social studies and working with the ballroom company.
David’s favorite thing in the whole wide world is a three-day weekend… one he gets to spend at home watching the snow fall outside while he stays warm indoors. He likes to spend those days writing and sipping hot chocolate without any outside obligations. “So, basically I’m dreaming of retirement right at the beginning of my career, I guess?” he says jokingly.
One thing his colleagues notice about David is how driven he is to help his students, whether it’s in the social studies classroom or the ballroom floor. They also notice how creative and dynamic David is with his lessons. He loves to engage his students on a whole other level. We are so glad to have David here; Provo High is truly enriched by his presence!
