We would like to recognize and congratulate our Employees of the Month for January 2019!!
Cesar Cardoso: (Physical Education Teacher)
Cesar Cardoso grew up in Brazil. He came to Provo when he married his wife and was invited to play soccer on scholarship at BYU. Cesar has been teaching at Provo High School for 29 years and coaching here for 30 years. Before coming to PHS he played soccer in Brazil and Louisiana. Cesar loves to teach and coach the students at PHS. He has genuine concern for the total welfare of each student and athlete and likes teaching them the principles of self-discipline, sacrifice, and hard work. When Cesar isn’t at work he likes to travel and visit new places and spend time with his 8 kids and 3 grandkids that are his life.
Here are some things colleagues had to say about Cesar:
Great Athlete, Great Coach, Great Teacher and wonderful friend!
Cesar not only is a great teacher/coach but a great friend. He cares about all his students and wants them to be successful. Monday collaboration meetings are so much more entertaining with his funny humor.
Coach Cardoso is a great colleague, teacher and coach. He has dedicated his career to helping our students understand the need to stay physically fit. He is a friend to all of the faculty, administration and the community. As a coach he has had great success and has changed the lives of many of our students.
I am so impressed with his unconditional genuine concern for all of his students. He takes an active individual interest in every single kid. He is a great example of why we get into teaching to begin with.
Roy Edwards: (School Resource Officer/Law Enforcement Teacher)
Roy Edwards grew up on a farm in Vineyard, UT. He came to Provo when he left the Mapleton Police Department to join the Provo Police Department. After working 10 years of patrol and 5 years as an undercover narcotics officer he decided to give being a school resource officer a try. This is Roy’s 7th year at Provo High School. As a teacher and a Police Officer he has the ability to interact with the students and the opportunity be a positive role model and make a difference in their lives. He hopes he has an influence on them to make the right decisions and instill in them the importance of getting a good education so they can get the career they want. When Roy isn’t at work he enjoys spending time camping or riding the side by side in the mountains with his family and trips to Hawaii.
Here are some things colleagues had to say about Roy:
Roy is positive, knowledgeable, and friendly to both staff and students. He is super dependable too. Ask him for something and you can be sure he’ll come through. He also is just a all around nice guy.
When it comes to his class & the students he teaches, Roy cares about them all, and has such a positive impact that students are always coming back post-graduation to update him about their lives. When it comes to the school & the safety of everyone here, Roy takes his job very seriously.
He is quick to respond when there is a problem and has your back. He’s a great listener and has a fun sense of humor. I appreciate all his help and willingness to work with all of the PHS students.
Roy cares about Provo High students and reaches out to students who are struggling. He has the ability to gain their respect and trust. Also he is an incredible willing listener. So grateful for his service, kindness and smile!
Thank you Cesar and Roy for your contribution to PHS! We are lucky to have you here!!
